Women empowerment is a burning issue. Today, women are excelling in every walks of life, be it education, health, sports and corporate. At the same time we hear about women being raped, burnt alive for dowry and discriminated at every level be it at home, office or public places.
Ancient India was a matriarch society, wherein there was a dominance of the women power in the society. The vedic scriptures found in archeological excavations and the system depicted in our ancient Rigveda suggests that men and women had equal respect in the society and we used to get inspired with “GuruMaa” and thus came the concept of the motherland. Over the years, especially after 1857, and a systematic sabotage of the Vedic Indian culture and education system by then Government, lead us to forget our glorious past and made the generations to look forward to West, which eventually resulted into abolishing of our social and moral value system.
With this event, we endeavour to re-establish our age old value system, discuss the issues the women face, debate and brainstorm to arrive at a workable solution and give recognition to the women achievers for their exemplary work for inspiring other women in the society, enabling the whole generation to look forward to a developed nation.
This event aims at highlighting the issues and challenges women are facing in today's world. In this Summit, policymakers, industry leaders, academia and practitioners deliberate on the issues and come out with practical recommendations. The first edition of the event was successfully organised on June 18, 2016 at Hotel Shangri-La, New Delhi. There was an attendance of over 350 delegates from across the country.
